This is an education pipeline program in which program participants will attend clinicals and participate in onsite instruction to achieve the minimum qualifications required to test for the SRNA certification. Program costs are covered by UK HealthCare with the expectation that participants will be hired into Nursing Care Technician or Medical Assistant positions at UK HealthCare and work in that capacity for a minimum of one year.
This 8-10 week program will allow individuals to be paid while attending classes to receive their SRNA certification. Orientation will be held on April 15th and 17th and classes begin on April 22nd, 2024.
This program is offered multiple times a year with start dates in April, June, August, and October 2024.
Nursing Care Technician Job Description:
This position works one-on-one with a Registered Nurse (RN) to complete delegated tasks and provide direct patient care such as: obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, documentation, assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living), ordering and stocking supplies, responding to patient call lights, unit orientation, and patient admission, transfer, and discharge. Positions may also involve moving patients from bed to wheelchair or stretcher, or stretcher to treatment/surgical tables. Handling of specimens and delivery to labs and preparation of patients for surgical procedures may also be required.
Medical Assistant Job Description:
The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care and provide clinical support to providers. Duties include but are not limited to the following: obtaining patient medical history information, expediting patient flow, rooming patients, stocking the clinic with supplies, navigating the electronic health record system, scheduling and follow-up with appointments, and assisting with medication fill requests, prior authorizations and schedule tests, procedures, and consults. The MA will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians respectfully and follow UK HealthCare values for service excellence.
The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing prompt, compassionate, and patient-centered care in a collaborative, team-oriented work environment. This dynamic environment supports collaborative efforts among the nursing staff and the teams of physicians to increase communication, and follow through, and enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. This includes utilization of the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care, ensuring patient satisfaction, and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
