Academic Support – Resource Class Assistant
In preparation for the 2024-2025 school year, Saint John’s Catholic Prep’s is searching for a caring, educational professional to serve as part of our Student Support Center team. This is an hourly position for a resource assistant who will supervise several study halls as well as testing center proctor. The study hall is designed for students with mild documented learning differences, providing a quiet space to work, helping them to achieve academic success in a college preparatory environment. The testing center accommodates students with extended time tests.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The resource class assistant’s primary function is to monitor students who have been identified as having a documented mild learning difference, while they work independently on schoolwork in a study hall setting. The assistant will work under the guidance of the Director of Academic Support. Responsibilities, skills and abilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining a quiet work environment/study hall for students completing independent work.
- Testing room proctor as needed.
- Administrative duties include scheduling student appointments for the Director of Academic Support, scheduling student telehealth room appointments, assisting with materials management for College Board tests (AP, SAT, PSAT)
- Floater for classroom coverage, cafeteria, hallway duties as needed.
- Excellent communicator with parents, faculty, Student Support Center and administration staff.
- Serves as a positive role model who will respect, promote and advance the Catholic mission of Saint John’s.
Qualifications/Education
- Associate degree or equivalent coursework
- Previous experience in delivering special education services at the high school level is preferred.
- Previous special education experience in tutoring reading, writing and/or math is a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
