Save Vision Family Program is seeking a Creole-speaking interpreter to join our team in the Bronx and Manhattan locations. As an interpreter, you will be responsible for facilitating communication between Creole-speaking clients and English-speaking staff members.
Duties:
- Provide interpretation services in medical, social work, or other settings as needed
- Translate verbal communications accurately and efficiently
- Review and interpret documentation to ensure accuracy in translation
- Communicate effectively in multiple languages to bridge language gaps
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate understanding
- Assist with the translation of medical records and other relevant documents
- Conduct interpretation services for patients, families, and healthcare providers
- Possess proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in multiple languages to effectively communicate with diverse populations
- Strong communication skills to convey information accurately and clearly
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements
- Ability to review and understand complex documentation for accurate translation
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting is advantageous
- Fluency in Creole and English
- Previous experience as an interpreter preferred - Strong communication and interpersonal skills
