The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Administration, has a full-time vacancy for an Accountant, 13-2010 ACCTS-AUDITORS-2. This position has a 37.5 hour work week and is considered non-exempt.
SUMMARY: Verifies and adjusts revenue transactions of the Department of Safety (DOS)- Concord Operations, Substations, and Municipal Agents. Responsible for daily revenue reporting and assists in monthly reconciliation of total revenues by the department.

18 Months or 1.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Associate's degree
36 Months or 3 Years of additional relevant experience = Bachelor's degree
54 Months or 4.5 Years of additional relevant experience = Master's degree
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university with major study in accounting or business administration. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One year's experience in accounting or auditing work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: None required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives generated revenue documents from DOS divisions for verification with depositories and reviews daily deposit information and transactions for accuracy and resolution as needed, for approval within NH First.
Reconciles bank statements to the deposit information submitted by towns, locating errors and responding to internal customer inquiries.
Verifies deposit records within NH First to division’s financial subsystems for all DOS divisions which are incorporated to the total department revenue report.
Reconciles revenue accounts in the divisional subsystems to the final posted revenue sources maintained in NH First and resolves differences. Prepares account adjustments, maintains contact with other divisions for reconciliation process and notifies divisions of outstanding reconciling items as necessary.
Processes returned/protested checks by recording and reviewing applicable information in Vision and NH First, sending collection letters and responding to customers inquiries and providing guidance as needed.
Prepares monthly department revenue reports and distributes to various department leadership and bureaus as necessary.
Works closely with supervisor regarding accuracy and timeliness of all depositing division’s paperwork to ensure efficient, accurate and timely daily deposits to the bank as well as end of month and yearend compliance.
Assists the Internal Auditor I with the coordination of the Department’s annual Payment Card Industry (PCI) Audit requirements throughout the year; ensuring that all divisions are in compliance with required documentation and training.
