Job Title: Senior Laboratory Technician / Research Specialist
Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated person to assist us with multidisciplinary research. The Senior Lab Technician will play a crucial role in overseeing and executing both wet-lab experiments involving animal models and computational/bioinformatics analyses. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, experimental design, data analysis, and supervision of junior staff members. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigators and research team to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory and the successful completion of research projects. Responsibilities:
· Wet Lab Duties:
o Develop and optimize experimental protocols and procedures.
o Train and supervise junior lab technicians in wet lab techniques.
o Perform advanced lab techniques such as molecular biology assays (ELISA) and sample preparation for single nuclei RNA sequencing experiments.
o Maintain detailed and accurate lab records and documentation.
· Dry Lab/Computational Duties:
o Develop and implement bioinformatics workflows for data processing.
o Perform advanced data analysis using statistical and computational methods.
o Utilize programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) for data manipulation and visualization.
o Maintain and curate databases and data repositories.
o Assist in interpreting and presenting analytical results to research teams.
o Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.
· Supervisory and Project Management Duties:
o Supervise and mentor junior lab technicians, ensuring adherence to protocols and lab safety.
o Coordinate laboratory activities and ensure efficient use of resources.
o Maintain inventory and order laboratory supplies and materials.
o Participate in the development and implementation of lab procedures and quality control measures.
o Assist in the preparation of project reports and presentations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Applicants with Bachelor’s degree should have minimum 5 years of work experiences as research/laboratory technician. Or, Master’s degree in in Biology, Neuroscience , Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. Applicants with Master’s degree should have with minimum 3 years of work experiences holding research/laboratory technician role.
- Extensive hands-on experience with a variety of laboratory techniques and animal models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in experimental design and protocol development.
- Proficiency in computational biology/bioinformatics tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) for data analysis.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and data visualization techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Experience in supervising and training personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis methods.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
