Policy Form Examiner Position

RIA is seeking candidates who are qualified to be an Insurance Policy Form Examiner for RIA's state and federal clients. This position is focused on reviewing policy forms filed with RIA's clients to evaluate compliance with state and federal laws applying to major medical insurance, such as the Affordable Care Act, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, Newborns' and Mothers' Health Protection Act, and other applicable laws and regulations.
Candidates for this position must have strong knowledge of state and federal laws applying to major medical insurance and the ability to apply laws to policy forms being reviewed. Additionally, the Policy Form Examiner position requires detailed and accurate written communication with insurers and collaboration with RIA's dynamic team of regulatory experts.

The Policy Form Examiner position with RIA is an independent contractor (1099) status, not employee status.
The Policy Form Examiner position is full-time, 35 to 40 hours per week, and independent contractor status.
Responsibilities
Regular duties may include review of product form filings for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations applying to major medical insurance. Additionally, review of policy forms for other lines of business, such as life, annuity, health, property and casualty insurance. Further, the Policy Form Examiner position may include involvement with market conduct examinations of insurance carriers to evaluate compliance with state and federal requirements.
Experience and skills
Preferred experience and skills include:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting reviews of product form filings and/or insurance market conduct examinations.
- Strong understanding of state and federal laws and regulations applying to major medical insurance policy forms, including the Affordable Care Act, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, and Newborns' and Mothers' Health Protection Act;
- Strong understanding of SERFF product filing system;
- Excellent analytical writing capability and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent collaboration, organization and planning skills.
- Demonstrated self-motivated and self-directed ability to perform work.
- Ability to travel for RIA assignments as needed.
- Minimum of college bachelor’s degree education, advanced education or equivalent experience preferred.
- Current insurance regulation designation preferred (i.e., MCM, AIE or CIE)
