Job Summary
The campground manager will be a full-time, salary position, commensurate with experience. The hours may vary depending on necessity and may include evenings and weekends. The manager will ensure that all the guests are are treated properly before, during and after their stay. A campground manager is constantly surveying the camp, looking for areas requiring repairs or improvements with the main goal of keeping the campground and units ready year-round. Managing staff, and delegating responsibilities to assist with this task, is also a priority of this position. The manager will maintain open communication with the operating partners respect the boundaries of confidentiality, laws, and safety.
Job Duties
· Hands on and oversees all aspects of the campground operations, including guest relations, front desk, retail store, housekeeping, maintenance, finances, long term reservations, team building, and staff development
· Manages special projects as needed
· Recruits, selects, trains, and manages employees to deliver superior guest services
· Adjusts staffing levels as needed to achieve labor goals and budgets
· Work with off-site team to ensure all aspects of campground are maintained correctly
· Properly administrate policies and procedures for handling cash, credit cards, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and all other financial transactions
· Ensure standards are maintained in service, cleanliness, shelf stock, and productivity
· Create work schedules and task sheets and build positive relationships with staff
· Monitoring campgrounds for hazards and unwanted guests, including nuisance animals
· Prepares deliverables as outlined below
Qualifications
· Camping knowledge a huge plus, but not required
· A background in the tourism, hospitality or customer service industries is a strong asset, as well as knowledge of housekeeping and/or maintenance departments
· Must have the ability to communicate well with staff members and partners, and influence others towards the accomplishment of common objectives
· Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
· Must have the ability to remain calm under all circumstances
· Exceptional leadership and motivational skills required – must be able to attract, train and retain the very best team members in the industry
· Often work unpredictable hours, to fill in for absent workers or busy season
· Ability to receive, as well as delegate, tasks accordingly
· Ability to perform basic math, understand finances, budgets, and cost management
· Must be dependable, reliable, and self-motivated, and project a positive, professional, upbeat attitude
· Must have strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with ability to work independently and prioritize work to meet deadlines and make decisions
· Walking 70%. Ability to lift 10- 50 lbs; Bending, lifting, pushing, twisting, and standing required
· Excellent organizational skills to set priorities, monitor progress, and react to changing circumstances and to assist in problem-solving and decision-making
· Must be competent in answering the phones, operating a cash register, operating a computerized reservation system, emails, internet, etc
· Competency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
· Satisfactory criminal background check with no convictions & an active Driver's License is required
· Perform any other duties as requested
Deliverables
· Weekly communication with company partners
· Monthly rental reports and budgeting updates
· Ensure all maintenance repairs and units cleaned satisfactorily
