Our athletics program is dedicated to nurturing student-athletes to reach their full potential, both on and off the court.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Coach to join our Volleyball program. The Assistant Coach will play a crucial role in the organization and execution of volleyball practices, scouting, recruitment, and gameday operations. This position is instrumental in providing a positive and healthy environment for the education and growth of our student-athletes.
A successful assistant coach will:
- Support student-athlete welfare and ensure good academic standing of team members.

Serve as a key contact and manager of our summer camps.

Provide a positive Christian coaching role model and support the overall development of student-athletes.

Assist in recruiting student-athletes and aid with recruiting administration tasks.

Conform to and be knowledgeable of all NCAA regulations and conference requirements.

Participate in the organization and execution of team practices and individual workouts.

Cooperate in specified game assignments, including preparing scouting reports, managing video uploads, and arranging gameday practice times and travel itineraries.

Maintain connection to our support network via social media and e-newsletters regarding team updates, alumni information, camp, and fundraising opportunities.
Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in athletics, related field, or equivalent.

Two years of previous experience in coaching volleyball at the high school or collegiate level.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletes, students, faculty, administration, and community.

Basic first aid, CPR, AED certification.

Valid Washington State driver's license with good driving record.

Maturing and contagious Christian faith, with willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.

Knowledge and technical skills necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.

Position will remain open until filled.
This category of employment recognizes the unique demands and unusual schedule of coaching an intercollegiate sport. Employees in this category will work an irregular, seasonal schedule with understanding and agreement that during the applicable sports season and certain off-season training periods and/or high-demand recruiting periods the demands may well exceed 40-hour workweeks. It is also understood and agreed that during less demanding periods the employee may fulfill the position's responsibilities by working less than 40 hours per week. It is also understood and agreed that there will be designated two months during which the employee will be available with reasonable notice for meetings and/or electronic consultation but will otherwise not be scheduled for regular work activities. During this two-month period, employees in this category will be permitted to accept additional compensated employment either from SPU or outside entities.
Salary: $40,000 - $42,000
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
