Job Description
WIT Logistics/Walker SCM is looking for a Warehouse Supervisor for our operation in Louisville, Kentucky. We are looking for the right person who shares our philosophy of Operational Excellence on a daily basis. WIT Logistic’s primary objective is to deliver the right part, to the right place, at the right time.
Summary of Position
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the operation of multiple sequencing cells within a 475,000 sq. ft. warehouse with 112 dock doors. Each supervisor is responsible for between 20-50 direct reports and several hundred SKU’s in their area of responsibility. The supervisor’s primary responsibility is to ensure that sequencing production is run to meet all client shipment window times and that there are no impacts to the client’s production schedule or quality objectives.
The Warehouse Supervisor will report to the Warehouse Manager, and will also be responsible for the overall material flow of their SKU’s. This involves the receiving and put away of their materials, the handling and return of sequence racks that flow between the warehouse and Ford, and also the returnable dunnage the flows between the warehouse and the manufacturing sites in Mexico and Honduras.
In addition, the Warehouse Supervisor will work with on-site client personnel to investigate quality issues and continuous improvement opportunities as they arise.
Core Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Drive safety awareness and lead team members to exercise safe work behavior and practices.
- Be present on the floor to give guidance and feedback to the team.
- Proactively communicate and escalate any ‘defects’ and other situations in the warehouse that could potentially have minor or major impacts to customers.
- Promote a culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement amongst team members to strive to better serve our customer.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects in the operation.
- Manage inventory accuracy at the highest levels.
- Accountable for adjusting personnel levels and flexing team members based on operational needs. Reduce costs and monitor overtime.
- Maintain productivity logs and end of shift reports.
JOB SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS
- Ability to manage people across a large facility, ensuring team members are productive and safe, while promoting communication and teamwork.
- Knowledgeable of 5S and Lean Manufacturing Principles.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
- Strong interpersonal skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; experienced and well-spoken in front of customers and large groups.
- Ability to deal with and communicate effectively with a diverse team of individuals from various backgrounds, at all organizational levels.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means, to individuals and groups.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, is preferred
- Ability to understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; read, understand, and communicate all safety requirements and cautions, as well as any/all operational procedures
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend English
- Bilingual Spanish, a plus
