REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: The Cashier reports to and takes direction from the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager, the Assistant Manager, and the Team Lead of Boathouse Asian Noodles & Café 88 (QSRRP) and provides professional and courteous customer service to all customers.
BASIC FUNCTIONS: The Cashier’s primary responsibility is to take food and beverage orders, enter them into the POS, accept payments, and ensure orders are fully and properly prepared and served to the customer. The Cashier provides exceptional customer service and displays a positive attitude when interacting with customers and co-workers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs.
- Greet customers with eye contact and a smile, and provide information about the menu in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Ring up orders in the POS and process payments for all items sold following all established sales and cash handling policies and procedures.
- Provide customers with bill total, issue correct change, and issue receipt(s) to customers.
- Process exchanges and refunds with management approval.
- Count cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift, balancing after each count.
- Record and keep all documentation of any amounts received, refunds, voids, and cash drops.
- Promptly and professionally address any customer complaints or issues, referring to management if and when necessary.
- Bag and/or box purchased to-go items.
- Assist with stocking and rotating merchandise and preparing condiments.
- Keep front counter area clean and tidy throughout shift.
- Fully comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the store, employees, and customers.
- Occasionally complete plates such as heating or adding condiments to finish orders.
- Check the portions, presentation, and quality of each plate before guests receive them.
- Follow all sanitation and safety guidelines set by the company and health department.
- Complete daily opening and closing duties as directed, including cleaning, trash removal, food prep, and restocking.
- Be proactive in helping to reduce food costs and food waste.
- Work as a cohesive, unified service team with the rest of the FOH staff.
- Required to attend all mandatory meetings and training when scheduled.
- Perform additional duties or special projects as requested by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Must Have or Possess:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service, food service preferred.
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, managers, kitchen, and co-workers.
- Possess a friendly and outgoing demeaner and the ability to converse with customers with ease.
- Must have an excellent work ethic with the commitment to show up on-time and maintain attendance standards.
- Must possess outstanding customer service skills.
- Must be able to work weekends, late nights, and all major holidays.
- Proven ability to problem-solve, prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to work and contribute as part of a team.
- Excellent basic math skills and the ability to operate a POS system.
- Possess the ability to “think on your feet” and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand both written and spoken English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Strength and ability to frequently and repeatedly reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the US.
- Must pass casino background check.
