MMI seeks a full-time Computer Science and Engineering teacher for 2024-2025. The position will involve teaching with a focus on technology, computer science, and engineering. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. A strong background in and a willingness to teach Mathematics is also a plus.
Possible courses include (but are not limited to) Introduction to Design, Computer Programming, Engineering, and Robotics. This position will predominantly work with 9th-12th grade students. However, the schedule may require that middle school technology classes be taught as well.
The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of basic computer science principles as well as experience with design thinking models and problem-solving strategies. A strong willingness to engage in and develop authentic hands-on learning experiences both with and for students in STEM related areas is a must. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the MMI Makerspace and will facilitate its use within the curriculum. Experience with 3D printers, CNCs, and laser cutting is a plus.
We are looking for an individual who is an expert in their academic field; has a strong understanding of the developmental needs of students in grades 6-12; is able to develop engaging, challenging, and innovative curriculum; and demonstrates an ability to motivate and inspire students while managing a student-centered classroom effectively.
The successful candidate will be a positive, energetic, life-long learner who communicates openly with students and parents, collaborates with colleagues across disciplines, and models a growth mindset. He/she will also serve as a student advisor and enthusiastically participate in the extracurricular life of the school.
