The role is responsible for performing fusion welding operations on High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes and fittings. The role involves joining sections of HDPE pipe using specialized equipment and techniques to create leak-free and durable connections for various applications. HDPE fusion technicians often work in industries such as water distribution, wastewater management, oil and gas, mining, and construction.
- Perform HDPE fusion welding using butt fusion, socket fusion, or electrofusion techniques to join HDPE pipes and fittings based on project requirements and specifications.
- Set up and maintain fusion welding equipment, including butt fusion machines, socket fusion tools, electrofusion machines, and associated accessories.
- Ensure that fusion welding processes meet industry standards and quality requirements to produce strong and reliable fusion joints.
- Conduct visual inspections of fusion joints to identify any defects or irregularities, and make necessary adjustments to achieve proper fusion.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines during fusion operations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of fusion equipment.
- Accurately document fusion processes, including fusion parameters, fusion joint locations, and any other relevant information required for project records.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to fusion equipment, joint quality, or fusion procedures, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure proper fusion techniques are employed in accordance with project plans.
- Perform routine maintenance on fusion equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Train and assist other team members in HDPE fusion techniques and best practices as needed.
