Responsibilities
- Prepares for and conducts hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
- Prepares and argues pre and post-trial motions
- Provides counsel to clients on day to day issues
- Strategize pre-lit and lit actions for cases involving life-disrupting injuries
- Hire appropriate case experts
- Approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and/or develop strategy
- Contacts clients to discuss their case and answer any questions
- Prepares witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations and trials including expert witnesses
- Conducts depositions and examinations under oath and prepares summary documents
- Prepares and conducts court appearances (matter management conferences, hearings, status conferences, etc.
- Conducts settlement/dispositive proceedings (e.g. mediations, arbitrations, etc.)
- Draft post-trial motions
- Provide legal opinions on claims
- Ability to travel
Requirements
- Law degree from a fully accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
- An active member in good standing with the State Bar Association
- 5+ years of personal injury experience
- First chair jury trial experience
- Experience litigation cases involving life-disrupting injuries
- Ability to manage high volume of pre-lit cases
- Excellent client service and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
