Line Technician at a glance
The Line Technician is a continuous improvement mindset, combination role consisting of maintenance and operator factory operations while implementing the factory’s preventative and corrective maintenance program. This position is familiar with all equipment operations to the point that they can adjust and repair during its operation, including cross-training other employees, sanitation and housekeeping duties.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Person must be able to perform and train self/others on basic mechanical skills, mechanical repairs and overhauls, maintenance systems, computer skills, new technologies in preventive/predictive maintenance, problem solving/troubleshooting, etc. where skills are not at the required level
- Minimum of two years of experience in industrial maintenance
- Must be able to maintain and operate all equipment in assigned area
- Demonstrate successful application of problem-solving techniques, effective communication and planning
- Must be Powered Industrial Truck licensed and follow all safety rules and procedures
- Must be willing to travel as required
- All other duties as assigned in order to support efficient plant operations
Knowledge / skill / experience levels
The Line Technician must possess knowledge of and understand the following:
- Rebuilding, repairing, and/or replacement of electrical equipment, parts, fuses, wiring, and machines, HMI, relays, electronic controls, printers, scales, and alarm systems.
- Process for conducting periodic preventative maintenance to include electrical and mechanical inspections, disassembly/reassembly of subsystems, proper lubrication, and testing.
- Work order procedures and concepts.
- Wiring diagrams, blue prints, schematics, and manuals.
- PLC ladder logic.
- Mig/Tig/Arc/Braze welding, and soldering.
- Parts and supplies to support assigned areas and shifts.
- Daily, weekly, and monthly records and work order systems.
- Policies and procedures for taking and logging parts from MRO.
- Policies and procedures for submitting and documenting parts requests.
- Policies and procedures for documenting equipment failure/repair analysis, work order information, and parts information on CMMS and appropriate forms.
- Plant’s safety guidelines, policies, procedures, etc.
- Environmental regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Maintenance Food Safety Program.
- Continuous improvement processes and Playbook.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Setup, Start-Up, Adjust and Operation of Equipment; Proper Shutdown, Sanitation & Changeover as required to Kraft Heinz standards and to minimize downtime.
- Installs, maintains, dissembles, refits, repairs and/or rebuilds electrical/mechanical equipment and/or machines, under supervision, to ensure production goals are met (may include automatic and process controls, HMI, relays, electronic controls, printers, scales, fuses, wiring defects, control modules, and alarm systems).
- Read wiring diagrams, blue prints, and schematics and follows directions from manuals and applies PLC ladder logic in solving problems.
- Perform all required quality testing/checks and complete all required documentation and paperwork for department operations: Quality (Quality Suites), Sanitation, Safety, etc.
- With E Team assistance; troubleshoot basic electrical equipment, maintain and improve electrical control systems, and complete work orders
- Communicate and coordinate with Maintenance/Production Leadership, any corrective maintenance required on assigned equipment to ensure optimum line efficiency and product quality.
- Utilizing Maintenance Windows; perform preventive maintenance inspections on all focus line equipment as assigned by the Maintenance Department to prevent and/or correct mechanical or electrical breakdowns. Participate in the development of a documented 52-week maintenance plan.
- Develop and implement improvements using the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process to prevent reoccurring equipment failures
- Utilize the CMMS system to document Maintenance activities, order parts, and develop work orders.
- Recording and documentation as required by manual, computer and other systems. Ensures documentation is accurately completed using QCMS (CMMS / SAP) guidelines
- Manage all supplies associated with the lines following up on excessive loss whether vendor or mechanically driven. Ensure supplies are accounted for and returned in a timely manner.
