Oversee all of the operations of the Foster, Rescue, and Social Media departments. Promote teamwork and collaboration within as well as with other LifeLine departments and leadership to ensure the Foster and Rescue departments are properly resourced to maximize lifesaving outcomes. Work with LifeLine’s community of fosters, rescue partners, and others to continue to grow the programs to support LifeLine’s overall mission of reducing euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals.

· Develop, motivate, and lead a team that focuses on positive placement outcomes for animals specifically involving rescues and foster homes.
· Work closely with the Animal Care Director and Adoptions and Volunteer Manager to decide on the best pathway for the most appropriate outcomes for the shelter’s pets, including euthanasia.
· Assign special projects and tasks for the Placement Support Manager. Provide oversight to determine completion, sustainability, and success of these projects. Provide reports when needed.
· Work with the Pathways Manager to see that every animal has a plan or pathway to ensure the shortest length of stay possible. Oversee the program’s sustainability and success, and work with the team to pivot when new needs arise. Provide reports when needed.
· Manage the Social Media Coordinator to ensure that the needs of the shelter are being communicated to our community. Collaborate on promotions and ways to best market our shelter animals and support our foster community with placement for their foster pets.
· Collaborate with the shelter’s leadership team to create and sustain lifesaving programs. Be open to other’s ideas and give honest and practical feedback on why an idea can or cannot be implemented.
· Interview, hire, and train new employees.
· Manage the schedules of the Foster, Rescue, and Social Media personnel.
· Fill in for absent employees as needed, as well as when the needs of the department are greater than the capacity of the team.
· Provide staff with reviews, performance corrective actions, and discipline meetings as needed.
· Conduct regular department meetings.
· Work with the Operations Director and Shelter Director to provide input for keeping SOPs current. Ensure staff is trained and following SOPs.
· Act as escalation point for clients when necessary. Use judgement to balance client requests, animal needs, and LifeLine policies to create positive solutions for problems and issues. Always act professional with respect and courtesy regarding our community, staff, and volunteers.
· Provide back up to other departments as needed.
· Work with the clinic on making sure animals going out through foster or rescue get proper medical care and documentation.
· Ensure the staff have resources needed to complete their duties, and assist with ordering when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
· Communicate effectively with staff and clients.
· Ability to recognize common animal behavior.
· Knowledge in animal health and well-being to include nutrition needs, resources for information, knowledge of common animal diseases
· Ability to identify animal species, ages and sexes. Ability to identify signs of animal illnesses and injuries.
· Demonstrated personal communication knowledge to include effective phone skills, effective interviewing techniques, public speaking and ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Management experience, animal experience, shelter experience required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and interpret policies and procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively to staff and clients and must possess good customer service skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written or verbal form and to follow those instructions correctly

While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to heat, cold, loud noises and unpleasant smells
