Job Summary:

Provide MQ-9 Sensor Operator flight instruction to facilitate student’s at VMUT-2 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. As a Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructors (FRSI) you are responsible for coordinating RPA ground and flight operations including mission planning; execution; briefing and debriefing; aircrew resource management coordination; and compliance with safety directives and procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Acts as Instructor Sensor Operator for MQ-9s in support of customer requirements.
(Sensor Operator III) Serve as the individual receiving priorities and tasking the team to complete the priorities.
(Sensor Operator III) Responsible for communicating any feedback or requirements back to the Squadron Operations Officer (OPSO) and/or COR for the overall completion of work.
(Sensor III) Be familiar with all publications listed Chief of Naval Operations Instruction (OPNAVINST) 3750.6 (series)- Naval Aviation Safety Management System, Defense Contract Management Instruction (DCMA INST) 8210.1D – Contractor’s Flight and Ground Operations, NAVAIR Instruction (NAVAIRINST) 3710.1 – Contractor’s Flight and Ground Operations, The Army Safety Program AR 385-10, or Army Equipment Safety and Maintenance Notification System AR 750-6, NAVMC 3500.14 (series) – Aviation Training and Readiness Program, NAVMC 3500.131 (series) – MQ-9A Training and Readiness (T&R) Manual, MQ-9 Enterprise Security Classification Guide – Revision 6 – 9 May 23, CNAF M-3710.7 – Naval Aviation Training and Operating Procedures and Standardization (NATOPS) General Flight and Operating Instructions Manual, A1- MQ9AA-NFM-000 – MQ-9A NATOPS manual, TO 1Q-9(M)A-1 – USAF MQ-9 Flight Manual and TO 1Q-9(M)A-1-1 – USAF MQ-9 Flight Manual, Appendix A, Performance Data.
(Sensor Operator III) Be familiar with the Marine-Sierra Hotel Aviation Readiness Program (M-SHARP) and ensure all aircrew supporting this TO are properly added, tracked, and scheduled appropriately.
(Sensor Operator III) Ensure all Naval Aircraft Flight Records (NAVFLIRs) OPNAV 3710/4 forms are completed after every flight and simulator event for aircrew.
(Sensor Operator III) Ensure Aviation Training Forms (ATFs) are completed by instructors supporting this contract for every training event conducted.
Coordinates and actively participates in ground and flight operations efforts including mission planning, briefings and debriefings and counsels with students to develop and maintain a high level of proficiency and safety.
Ensures compliance with service guidance, company policy and procedures and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.
Performs administrative duties relative to training such as recordkeeping, monitoring student progress.
Serves as aircraft type Subject Matter Expert (SME) for curriculum development, students and other personnel as required.
Maintains a high level of subject knowledge, capability, and expertise.
Performs other aircrew duties as assigned or required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Education, Experience and Certifications Required:

Minimum:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
No less than 10 years as a Group 5 Sensor Operator III or No less than 5 years as Group 5 Sensor Operator II
550 hours in the MQ-9 aircraft (up to 50% of that MQ-9 flight time can be conducted in simulator) and no less than 25 hours of MQ-9 instructor time.
Must be qualified Mission Command Element (MCE) and Launch and Recovery Element (LRE) trained.
Candidate shall be familiar with MCE and LRE instruction and able to teach students in both areas.
Candidate may meet both Pilot and Sensor Operator Aircrew requirements, however no Contractor Instructor shall serve as pilot and sensor operator during a single flight or simulator event.
MQ-9 Sensor Operator training, specifically the United States Air Force (USAF) MQ-9 Sensor Operator Initial Qualification Training course (IQT), USMC MQ-9 Sensor Operator Training Course at VMUT-2, or industry equivalent MQ-9 Sensor Operator Training Course (General Atomics-ASI, L3-Harris, Albers, etc.).
Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) First or Second-Class Airman Medical Certificate, or a current DD Form 2992 at the GFR’s discretion, reflecting the individual is medically cleared for flight duty.
Maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.

Preferred:

MQ-9 Evaluator Sensor Operator experience
550 MQ-9 flight hours
Last flight within 180 days

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 40 pounds and carry without assistance
CONUS travel may be required
