Responsibilities:
- Manage and educate students in a classroom setting
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans
- Adhere to the established teaching curriculum
- Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modify instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Communicate via phone calls and emails with parents on a weekly basis
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of high school mathematics curricula and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in mathematics, a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Michigan Professional, Standard, or Interim Teaching License
- Prior experience teaching high school mathematics, preferably in a K-12 setting; a minimum of two years of experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the subject matter, including various mathematical disciplines and concepts.
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to build rapport with students
- Passion for education and a dedication to fostering a love for mathematics among students.
- Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to integrate it into instruction effectively.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
