SBA 504 Business Development Officer
Summary
As the SBA 504 Business Development Officer in Houston, Texas, you'll play a crucial role in advancing LiftFund's mission of supporting entrepreneurs and community businesses across 15 states. You'll be instrumental in driving new loan volume through the SBA 504 Loan Program by establishing a robust referral network and implementing efficient processes to convert prospects into applications and manage loans through the credit and closing processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement streamlined processes for managing the SBA 504 loan pipeline and submitting applications efficiently.
- Craft comprehensive marketing strategies leveraging available tools and resources to identify and capitalize on untapped markets for new SBA 504 lending opportunities.
- Win business by emphasizing value, loan structure, and relationship-building rather than solely focusing on rates and fees.
- Oversee the entire 504 loan process from initial application to successful closing.
- Foster strong, productive relationships with internal partners to facilitate seamless collaboration.
- Prepare thorough and compelling loan packages for submission to the credit department.
- Proactively identify and address any potential closing issues that could impact loan approval.
- Guide borrowers and business partners through the preliminary closing checklist, tailoring it to the specifics of each loan and transaction.
- Assist in gathering necessary documentation for closing, providing clear explanations to borrowers and referral sources as needed.
- Maintain adherence to office procedures and actively contribute to the effective implementation of the SBA 504 Loan program.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the 504 Sales Manager.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in lending, preferably in SBA 504 Guaranteed Government lending.
- A dependable and productive referral network.
- A reputation for credibility and innovative thinking.
- In-depth knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedures.
- Outstanding interpersonal, sales, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a high-volume environment.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and meet project deadlines.
- A passion for continuous learning and advancement in commercial real estate finance and SBA guidelines.
- Flexibility to work regular business hours and overtime as needed in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.

- Fluency in English and Spanish, along with experience in the nonprofit industry preferred.

Travel
Routine travel within the local area and infrequent overnight travel, in and out of state, as necessary.
Position Type, Days and Hours
This is a full-time, exempt position. The days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, but working outside these hours may be necessary from time to time.
Physical Demands
When working on-site, work is performed in a routine office environment. This job requires working under stressful conditions to meet deadlines and address unexpected work challenges. The job also requires the ability to operate office equipment (such as computers) as may be necessary to perform the position’s responsibilities.
