Who we are

Somar North America Corporation (SNA) is a subsidiary of Somar Corporation headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, and has been conducting business in the US since 2017.

We manufacture chemical materials, such as epoxy compounds, for a variety of motor applications as well as electronic components.

We serve a variety of industries including automotive, and are expanding our capabilities to meet the great demand for EV-related supplies.

Position Summary

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting with the activities of the overall general accounting function. Will oversee, implement, and maintain accounting systems, procedures, and policies. This position ensures the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and acts as liaison between the company, government, client, and CPA auditors in providing required information and ensuring proper information is maintained.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Answer and screen incoming calls, deliver messages in a timely manner, and direct them accordingly.
Process vendor invoices for payment, including matching to packing slips, review for accuracy, filing and organizing related documents, researching vendor invoice issues, and mail payments.
Administer petty cash, including documenting expenditures, gathering, and organizing receipts, and summarization.
Work with Accounting Manager to ensure timely processing of both processing and submitting payroll.
Project management which may include issuing purchase orders, creating presentations, planning, and coordinating multiple project assignments, and working with various resources to gather and disseminate important information.
Process shipments to various customers and affiliates
Assist raw material management for production.
Schedule and organize appointments, meetings, conferences, and other work.
Research assignments, processes, and analyze data.
Coordinate travel arrangements and process expenses.

· Travel approximately 1-3 times per month.

· Other duties and special projects as needed.

Education and Qualifications

· Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field preferred

· CPA or MBA a plus

Skills and Technology

· Exceptional organization and time management skills

· Work independently

· Multitask efficiently

· High attention to details; ability to take directions, self-check and follow up on work

· Basic data base experience, 10key by touch, and calculator

· Ability to enter accurate financial/numerical data

· Analytical and critical problem-solving skills

· Basic knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel, QuickBooks or other accounting software

· Basic to intermediate computer and typing skills

· Ability to apply discretion, and trust with confidential company information

· Japanese language skills preferred, but not required.

· Some knowledge of Chemistry preferred.

Candidates should be detail-oriented and proactive.
Must maintain the calendar using Garoon and/or Outlook and be proficient in Office 360.
Use various PC software packages, including spreadsheets, word processing, and graphics to produce high-quality reports, tables, graphs, presentations, and other documents.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, co-workers, and external parties.
Solid time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
Demonstrate ability to multi-task, work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
Ability to work non-standard hours as needed in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
