As a Lead Instructional Designer, you will manage academic partner relationships with regard to instructional design needs. In this role, you will combine your expertise in instructional design, learning experience design, and technology to help our academic partners create contextually rich, objective-driven online degree programs that focus on real-world, workplace skills. Working with a team of developers, other Boundless Learning departments, and our academic partners, you will take degree programs from concept to implementation.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide instructional design consultation to faculty and subject matter experts to develop contextually-rich, objective-driven courses that focus on real-world, workplace skills.
- Facilitate the course development process.
- Ensure that courses adhere to partner standards.
- Conceptualize, storyboard and work with multimedia developers on online course components.
- Build course content in learning management systems.
- Assist with implementation, review, and revision of courses.
- Complete instructional design documentation to ensure quality and consistency.
- Track time and tasks in project management system.
- Collaborate with academic partners/clients to
- Develop and maintain standards, guidelines, and templates.
- Support accreditation and curriculum planning and development initiatives.
- Research, implement, and lead emerging technology initiatives.
- Assist in developing evaluation tools for assessing effectiveness of courses.
- Facilitate ID team meeting about learning design initiatives.
- Ensure common initiatives for partners.
- Support Marketing, Recruitment, Student Support Services, and Help Desk for course development/learning design needs.
- Escalate internal and academic partner issues to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Provide oral and written status reports, workshops, and other presentations to Boundless Learning and academic partners. (Up to 15% non-local travel may be required.)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of adult learning principles, constructivism, facilitation, and learner-centered activities
- Ability to provide instructional design consulting services to subject matter experts
- Minimum of a bachelor degree in education or a related degree; master's degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years experience in instructional design
- Specific experience in designing authentic assessments and engaging learning experiences
- Experience collaborating with teams and clients to manage expectations
- Experience in learning management systems
- Experience in html or css preferred
- Ability to be creative, flexible, and innovative in course design
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, client management skills, self-direction, and motivation
