Job Summary

Drives company-owned truck to transport containers to and from the harbor; keeps truck clean and well maintained; complies with all DOT and CHP regulations; maintains electronic as well as paper logs according to applicable regulations; turns in paperwork, complete and on time; performs pre-and post-trip inspections; maintains communications with Dispatch as needed and/or requested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Transports full and empty containers to and from predetermined destinations (Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach; various customer sites).

Destinations are within Pacifica’s lane and zone structure, which will include local, long haul, and a combination of both.
All truck drivers must have the ability to drive long-haul routes on any Interstate, US Highway or State route (includes all freeways in California). This is a prerequisite for the job.

Keeping truck clean and well maintained.

Complying with all DOT, CHP, and other applicable governing agency regulations.

Timely and accurate electronic transmission of data and upload of required documentation via any transportation software/systems Pacifica Trucks utilizes.

Adhering to Safety and Company policies.

Maintains truck log (electronic and paper) according to state and federal regulations.

Turning in paperwork on time.

Maintains contact with Dispatch to receive delivery instructions.

Courteous with customers.

Inspects truck equipment and supplies including but not limited to pre-and post-trip inspections, tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Meet designated KPIs weekly, monthly, and quarterly according to company policies

Education and/or Experience Two or more years related driving experience with a Class A drivers license and at least one year port driving experience preferred.

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
