Title:
Panel Shop Foreman
Purpose:
Supervise the activities of the panel building crew, ensuring that panels are built to Olsson Industrial Electric’s quality standards, within given budgetary and time constraints. Responsible for seeing that we always maintain a safe and clean environment in the Shop.
The foreman may also be directly involved in the assembly, troubleshooting, repairing of industrial panels and electrical service calls.
Duties:
- Schedules, coordinates, and updates training for the shop so that all department employees fully understand and are compliant with company policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Sets a positive example for shop employees concerning work ethic, quality of work, attendance, positive attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ensures safety procedures are followed.
- Takes responsibility for the quality of the work done by all the panel shop employees. Sees that all quality procedures are followed.
- Takes responsibility for the productivity of all panel shop employees to see that projects are completed within our estimated hours and that each employee is performing at the level expected.
- Collaborates with the estimating and engineering teams on panel building projects.
- Schedules appropriate staffing in order to meet production schedules and/or project deadlines.
- Maintains the production schedule, by providing status information/updates and estimated hours to complete.
- Analyzes and quickly resolves any work problems.
- Is familiar with UL 508a wiring requirements and ensures that panels produced meet the required standards.
- Responsible for interviewing panel shop candidates and making final decisions with regard to hiring new employees.
- Evaluates the performance of panel shop employees and makes recommendations with regard to raises and corrective action.
- Reviews timesheets/timecards and submits them to the payroll department
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Educational Requirements:
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Education—high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience—UL 508A panel shop construction, assembly and/or installation.
- Ability to read electrical control and power schematics well.
- Knowledgeable on Industrial automation, controls integration, UL 508A Panel Shop Solutions and familiarity with OEM and manufacturing controls related business opportunities.
- Problem solving—identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Oral communication—speaks clearly and respectfully to coworkers and customers.
- Planning/organizing—prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans to include project closeout and lessons learned.
- Quality control—demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.

Environment:
Performances of duties are mostly in our panel shop and/or office environment. Normal operating hours are between 7:00am and 5:00pm, including lunchtime. Some overtime work will be required at times.
Physical Demands:
Requires visual acuity, the ability to communicate in person and over the phone, and manual dexterity. Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, climb, pull, lift and carry (up to 75 lbs.)

Base Salary Range: $80,000 to $120,000, DOE
