Position Vision: Responsible for creating, implementing and sustaining manufacturing practices with an emphasis on safety, throughput, and efficiency.
- Implement & sustain lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiencies and reduce waste
- Work with Safety Manager to sustain safety culture through training, documentation and daily observation
- Ensure the production staff follows policies and procedures that line up with Red Dot’s quality systems manual
- Assess and create solutions to manufacturing opportunities such as scrap, quality and safety
- Develop reports and analyze data pertaining to key performance indicators to assist leadership with manufacturing and business strategies
- Represent the Manufacturing Department in internal meetings that require conversations associated with manufacturing process
- Leads discussions with key suppliers of manufacturing supplies in areas of pricing, lead times, and quality of products
- Monitor schedules with Project Management team to set production priorities and capacities
- Assist quality manager to prepare and pass audits for our current certifications throughout each year
- Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in work flow
- Assist human resources to attract, retain, and develop strong employees into a self-directed team
- Work with human resources to track and hold performance reviews for all manufacturing personnel
- Ensure that performance goals are set, clearly identified, and achieved through the proper execution of performance metrics as it relates to safety, production and quality
- Sustain a culture of accountability for production managers and lead personnel
- Coordinate with design and detailing to maximize shop efficiencies while maintaining design flexibility
Hours of Work:
· Standard 45 hour work week
· May require overtime
Relationships and Contacts:
· Reports to Vice President of Manufacturing
· Management over the Quality & Personnel Manager and the Production Manager
· Internal contact with every department
· External communication with vendors
Job Specifications:
Experience, Education, Knowledge and Skills
· Bachelor’s degree
· Six (6) years or more of related professional work experience in metal buildings or a manufacturing plant
· Proven oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely present information, gain buy in and earn commitment to business strategies
· Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and develop manufacturing teams
· Familiarity and or expertise in Lean methodologies
· Experience in structural steel, metal buildings or job shop manufacturing is a plus
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
· Demonstrated proficiency with use of PC and associated systems
