The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the business can efficiently source raw materials, manufacture products, store inventory and transport shipments to customers. This role will negotiate business relationships and communicate with suppliers and distributors on a regular basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manages the procurement process for all raw materials and manufacturing supplies Manages sourcing, cost savings, and continuous improvement measures that deliver total cost savings generating gross margin improvement.
· Responsible for implementing systems for material replenishment, lead times, and reorder points, minimizing the level of on-hand inventory and cash utilization.
· Creates strategy for production planning and scheduling, including developing metrics for adherence to schedule and increasing batch sizes.
· Authors customized reports in Microsoft Excel and own any maintenance to those reports.
· Acts as the escalation point for all issues with shipping, including on-time shipments, quality issues with shipments, quality issues in production and troubleshooting inventory shortages that might lead to delay in fulfillment.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other related field or commensurate experience in Supply Chain Management required. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
· 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Purchasing, Logistics/Distribution required.
· APICS certification preferred.
· Previous experience in manufacturing with responsibility in Purchasing or Supply Chain Management.
·Previous experience and a firm understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.
· Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles and processes.
· Demonstrated strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required.
· Previous experience managing an ERP/MRP system.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and other pertinent software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
· Be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Occasionally exposed to mechanical hazards, explosives, along with other health or safety conditions.
·May be occasionally exposed to plant conditions such as dust, noise, fumes, odors, and other environmental conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
