Co-Teacher Apprenticeship:
While all teaching, instructional support and operational staff report to the Partners, every Co-Teacher Apprentice is assigned to a schoolhouse (“classroom”), working for and with their assigned Associate or Partner to teach students, conduct assessments and perform all other assigned duties including but not limited to management and instruction. Together with Lead
Teachers, they are responsible for the creation, development and implementation of appropriate lesson plans and curriculum units for their students (though they may seek out guidance and support from the Associates, Partners, Dean of Students and Stakeholder Services team). Their responsibilities also include but are not limited to: maintaining accurate records of student’s progress formally and informally; meeting with colleagues on a regular basis to analyze data and report on progress of curriculum, management of individual schoolhouse and collaboration on other schoolhouse systems. Additionally, Co-Teacher Apprentices are also responsible for supporting their Lead by providing effective classroom management, school culture, special education, instructional materials and infrastructure, operations management, safety, parent and community relations, etc.

Qualifications:
- Hold some level of teaching certification by the start of the 2024 – 2025 SY.
- Less than three years of elementary school teaching experience
- Strong general management and leadership skills
- Results-oriented individual – a determined leader willing to do whatever it takes
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed
- Highly motivated, capable of seeing projects through from beginning to end
- Solid analytical and communication skills
- Belief in the mission and educational model, and ability to work with the partners to achieve Ember's goals
- Reflective about personal strengths and weaknesses; balance confidence with humility
- Maturity, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and “roll-up-the-sleeves” attitude.
- Master’s degree or current enrollment in master’s degree program from a competitive college or university
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid teacher’s license prior to the start of the school year in which they are hired
- Residency in, or relocation to the Central Brooklyn community is required

Salary Range:
$55,000 (uncertified) - $60,000 (certified) + bonus up to 20% of your base annual salary.
