Community Outreach Coordinator will support our Recovery Connection program and educate the public on the opioid epidemic and other drug problems in the greater Maine Township community, including schools, faith-based institutions, family groups and health care providers. This position will also have direct involvement with Recovery Connection participants by planning and promoting events and all associated programs. Community Outreach Coordinator must have good organization, writing and social media skills as well as experience in community outreach. This is up to 19 -hour a week position. Community Outreach Coordinator must be able to work as a team player, communicate and express ideas effectively, both orally and written, and work flexible hours, especially evenings and weekends. This is a grant-funded position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to Maine Township Recovery Connection Program.
- Perform community outreach and post flyers regarding Recovery Connection and opioid epidemic.
- Process invoices and receipt reconciliation in a timely manner.
- Support and preparation of monthly reports.
- Assist with data base management.
- Engage in Community Outreach: Call on and schedule appointments with community groups, government agencies to talk about Recovery Connection programing and events. Hang flyers at restaurants, government buildings, grocery stores and other public places. Engage healthcare and therapeutic professionals via mail to refer clients to program and access Township services. Perform treatment navigation for families and individuals needing treatment for alcoholism and drug addiction.
- Update Social Media : Increase/manage social media posts on private Facebook page. Will develop and highlight recovery related stories and events. Will work with township staff to provide weekly updates of events and community resources to be included on Maine Township website, Facebook and Mainely News newsletters. Lead updating of Recovery Connection literature and brochures while also developing new marketing materials relevant to today’s opioid epidemic.
- Events and Programming: Research and organize a minimum of 1 new special event a month. Assist with seasonal programs, such as Sober Golf and Fellowship Volleyball. Work with other staff on developing at least 3 larger quarterly events per year. Attend regular Friday night Recovery Connection meetings, collect information from new participants and add to database. Assist with room set up and cleanup of both Friday and Saturday night recovery meetings. Assist Director in development of weekly E-newsletter through writing, editing and corrections. Maintain participant email lists, additions and deletions, all email announcements.
Qualifications:
· Organizational skills, time management skills, record keeping skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
· Strong analytical skills needed in order to construct statistical report.
· Comfortable with public speaking and presenting in front of large groups of people.
· Assistance with database for program participants.
· Exceptional computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft word, Canva Software and expertise making flyers and marketing materials, excel, web-based platforms and database management.
· Strong commitment to customer service.
· Knowledge in addiction recovery a plus.
· Marketing background a plus.
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor Degree required
Computer Skills
· CANVA, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc), Graphics software, Constant Contact, and social media.
