Purpose Statement/Position Summary: CHLA seeks a driven and proactive individual to specialize in pursuing and securing planned gifts including bequest commitments, life income gifts (e.g., charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts), and gifts of non-cash assets (e.g., real estate).
This position will report to the Associate Senior Vice President (ASVP), Gift Planning, and will:
- Assist the ASVP in developing and executing a strategy to proactively identify prospects and build a pipeline of bequests, life income gifts, and gifts of non-cash assets;
- Actively build and manage a portfolio for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of gift planning prospects, personally raising six- and seven-figure gifts;
- Use specialized gift planning knowledge to evaluate prospects’ circumstances and goals to recommend optimal gift plans;
- Strategize and collaborate with internal colleagues and external professional advisors as needed to secure planned gifts from prospects;
- Produce gift planning proposals, illustrations, and agreements for prospects as appropriate;
- Engage and cultivate relationships with local professional advisors in partnership with the ASVP;
- Stay current on charitable gift planning vehicles and related tax laws and regulations.
Must be collaborative and a team player. The ideal candidate will be passionate about CHLA’s mission and able and willing to regularly visit prospects in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 7+ years of fund raising in annual unrestricted development, communications, marketing, PR and/or community relations.
Senior level management experience and skill in directing a large and complex development program.
Experience in an academic and medical environment is desirable.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of related education and experience in Communications, Marketing, PR, Sales or Community Relations. An advanced degree is preferred
Pay Scale Information: CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
