About Us: The Student Assistance Services Counseling Center is a mental health clinic committed to providing exceptional care to adolescents facing mental health challenges. As we expand our services, we are seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk with a focus on medical billing to join our team.
Job Summary: The Accounting Clerk at the Student Assistance Services Counseling Center will play a role in managing financial transactions, overseeing medical billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing along with strong accounting skills to contribute to the financial health of our clinic. This is a part-time role to start with the possibility of expanding to full-time.
Salary is based on 21 hours per week to start.
Responsibilities:
Medical Billing:
- Assist with processing and submitting medical claims to insurance providers
- Verify insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits for patients.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and denials.
Accounts Receivable:
- Tracking and reconciling patient payments.
- Follow up on outstanding patient balances and coordinate with billing specialists.
Coding and Documentation:
- Work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate coding and documentation.
- Stay updated on coding changes and compliance requirements.
Insurance Coordination:
- Collaborate with insurance providers to resolve billing-related issues.
- Stay informed about changes in insurance regulations and reimbursement policies.
Compliance:
- Compliance with healthcare billing regulations and guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for audits.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on medical billing a plus.
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
- Proficiency in using medical billing software and accounting systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Education:
- Associate's Degree or 2 years of college required. 4 years of experience in medical billing can substitute for college
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $34,800.00 - $38,400.00 per year
Expected hours: No more than 21 per week
