PURPOSE
We are searching for a Per Diem Pharmacist who is licensed in California and able to work on call (with mostly advanced notice) to cover 8 hour shifts of vacationing pharmacists. We are looking for Per Diem Pharmacists who know their schedules a month in advance.

This per-diem pharmacist is responsible for overseeing and contributing to providing pharmaceutical services to patients, Medical Groups/IPA customer accounts, Diabetes Clinics, health care professionals and physicians on an “as-needed” on call basis for full 8 hour shifts or less. Majority of days will be scheduled in advance.
Assists leadership and staff members to identify, evaluate, address and resolve pharmacy-related concerns and issues that affect patient care, medical care, quality of life and/or regulatory compliance.
Accountable for performing the responsibilities of PV1 and PV2, and fulfilling the goals set for this position. Actively participates in providing outstanding customer service and patient care.
DUTIES

- Evaluates and interprets drug therapy orders for appropriateness of dosage, route, interval, schedule and duration.
- Knowledge of products and services of the business.
- Ability to effectively resolve customer service and patient care concerns and issues over the phone.
- Reviews orders for drug interactions, therapeutic duplication, drug-disease contradictions, drug allergies, drug precautions, drug-food precautions and min-max dose checking.
- Makes recommendations for therapy change when appropriate, including drug discontinuation or dosage alteration.
- Verifies orders in a timely and accurate manner based on prescription with what is processed and dispensed by processors and technicians.
- Ensure all orders are cleared at the end of the shift that is required to be delivered for that day.
- Effectively communicates oral and/or written therapeutic recommendations or other aspects of drug therapy.
- Obtains and uses clinical lab data to evaluate appropriateness of drug product selection and/or dosage regimen.
- Receives verbal orders from physicians, nurses and other prescribers.
- Provides pharmacological information and consultations by answering questions and requests of all health care professionals, patients and patient care takers.
- Supports and oversees all pharmacy technicians and pharmacy personnel as it relates to pharmacy compliance and patient care.
- Monitor the workflow of orders in production and queues in the system.
- Participates in the pharmacy Q/A program for improvement and best practices.
- Participates in the safety and security of our staff, patients, customers, and facility.
- Complies with state(s) and federal drug laws as regulated by the California State Board of Pharmacy, other states the pharmacy is shipping to, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration.
- Complies with all Company policies and procedures, and regulatory rules and standards, including HIPAA.
- Available to work shifts Monday to Friday.
- Working overtime, if required.
- Other duties, as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) in pharmacy or
- Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD) (preferred)
EXPERIENCE REQUIRMENTS
- Minimum 1 years working as a pharmacist
- Experience working with ERM and document management systems (preferred)
- FSI and DocuTrack
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Pharmacist license from the state of California - State Board of Pharmacy, in good standing.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Must be reliable, team oriented, enjoy managing a team and not afraid to roll up your sleeves and jump in when needed
- Excellent time management, communication, interpersonal, and prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to compute rate, ratio, and percent)
- Ability to type with minimal errors
- Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret data
- Ability to apply common sense understanding and principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems and to deal with abstract and concrete variables
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

COMPUTER SKILLS AND APPLICATIONS
Good proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) familiarity with PowerPoint, Outlook; ability to use the Internet for research and information in support of job duties.
