POSITION SUMMARY: The senior product manager’s primary focus is to manage the design and development activities for broad-impacting modules, services, or a complex set of functional areas to enhance and deliver software capabilities, create sticky solutions that excite customers and increase profitability of the product.
This seasoned product leader is a subject matter expert and the business owner of their assigned domain. With limited supervision, they will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to outline and elaborate on a product vision and roadmap. This person will also coach and mentor junior product managers, as necessary.
Guided by the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) the senior product manager is responsible for defining the product vision, grooming, and maintaining a healthy and timely product backlog, and is the key point of contact for product development epic and story level details.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Has a deep curiosity, understanding, and empathy for the entire customer experience, especially at a tactical and transactional level, and advocates to improve that experience. This requires travelling to client sites to lead and participate in the observation and gathering of the understanding to be an outspoken voice of the customer.
Defines, develops, and improves the overall customer experience relying primarily on market research, experience, and customer interaction to inform priority and market timing of feature release.
Assesses and assigns business value and negotiates prioritization of epics through discussions with the agile team and stakeholders.
Manages the work of multiple agile team(s) and the expectations of key stakeholders to craft complex epics and user stories and documents functional requirements including defining common terminology, diagraming processes, and creation of wireframes.
Builds and maintains a robust multi-team backlog and roadmap, creates, and decomposes epics into user stories, reviews and prioritizes the backlog for program increment (PI) and iteration planning, including the creation and coordination of dependencies with other PMs, teams, and vendors.
Works with other agile release train (ART) members and the product leadership team to lead the planning and execution of timely product releases that deliver excellent value to FORTNA’s customers, including coordinating the creation and distribution of customer-facing product documentation and press-releases.
Maintains high availability to the dev team to answer real-time questions and provide direction, clarity, and consultation on customer issues.
Mentors and helps coordinate the activities of more junior PMs, guiding them in epic design, prioritization, stakeholder management, process improvements, and release planning/management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in business, industrial engineering, or related technical field; master’s degree preferred.
6+ years of combined experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, and/or Product Manager with experience developing, supporting, or implementing WMS, WES, or WCS software applications.
5+ years of experience designing customer or product specifications in the supply chain fulfillment industry.
Expert communication and interpersonal skills – able to adeptly collaborate, negotiate and consult with technical and non-technical business/third party counterparts, and articulate complex requirements and capabilities to internal and external customers alike.
Exceptional facilitation skills – able to effectively lead and guide design, testing, development, and implementation activities across multi-team groups.
Exceptional client-facing skills – able to collaboratively gather customer feedback and generate/deliver a C-Suite and lower product presentation/demo.
Exceptional team working skills and experience (influencer and supporter)
Exceptional organizational, time management and critical thinking skills
Must be willing and able to travel approximately 10-15% – primarily domestic travel, minimal international travel.
Ability to perform essential functions of the job.
Demonstrated expertise, through earning and application of one or more certifications, related to Agile or SAFe®) methodologies, Lean Manufacturing principles, and process improvement.
WORKING CONDITIONS: When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. When travelling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.

The base salary range for this role is $112,500 to $168,800. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
