The Data Governance & Operations Lead drives and ensures the reliability and accuracy of our Field Data sources, and establishes data stewardship, governance standards and executes on these. This individual contributor will report directly to the VP of Engineering, Field Practice Management Engineering (FPME).
- Implement and operationalize Core Data Analytics (CDA) data governance framework and compliance across all FPME.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (i.e. CDA, Data Architects, Data Engineering teams) to ensure adoption and enforce the governance framework.
- Establish an FPME data operations council, including Northwestern Mutual Tech, CDA, Architecture, and other teams for alignment and compliance across all teams, and promote governance and stewardship awareness.
- Collaborate with FPME leadership to develop a data analytics strategy focused on field growth and overall needs.
- Establish and maintain data governance metrics for compliance and quality tracking.
- Promote a culture of data governance through training and workshops.
- Monitor and report governance compliance monthly for FPME and Quarterly for Engineering function.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 6-8 years of professional experience
- 6+ years of software engineering, debugging, analysis, testing and software documentation experience preferred.
- Ability to explain technical solutions to technical teams and non-technical teams.
- Sophisticated programming skills. Code Knowledge: Python, Java, SQL.
- Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environment.
- Strong understanding of database structures, Data Quality, Data Concepts, theories, principles, and practices.
- Strong understanding of Data Integration Patterns and Tooling including ELT/ETL, EII, Replication, Event Streaming and Virtualization to support batch and real-time data needs.
- Has or develops understanding of 4-6 subject areas/domains of data.
- Provides a Strong Agile Lean Servant-Leader Model.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
