Job Description:
As an Overnight Puppy Academy Caretaker, you will play a pivotal role in the care and development of our future guide dogs. You will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and enrichment of our canine residents, including both puppies and adult dogs. Your duties will encompass a wide range of tasks, from basic care to medical procedures and everything in between.
Core Competencies:
- Thorough Understanding of Puppy and Adult Dog Care: You will need to have a comprehensive understanding of puppy care, adult dog care, including broods whelping, breeding, and day-to-day operations and goals of the Puppy Academy.
- Adherence to Protocols and Procedures: Adhere to protocols and procedures in all areas of the Puppy Academy.
- Comprehensive Care and Enrichment: Provide care and appropriate enrichment for kenneled dogs and puppies, including feeding, walking, grooming, and more.
- Medical Procedures: Assist with various medical procedures such as blood draws, x-rays, ultrasounds, and administering medications as directed.
- Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicate with team members, report medical/behavior problems, and follow set protocols and curriculums.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to volunteers and visitors to Southeastern Guide Dogs.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in animal care preferred.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and protocols related to dog care.
- Ability to work overnight shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with animal care.
