Defense contractor in the St. Louis area is hiring for the position of Quality Engineer. A joint venture formed by industry leading U.S. and European defense contractors, the company is starting up operations in 2024 to primarily support the needs of the U.S. Department of Defense through the exclusive use of an advanced and disruptive technology being brought to the United States.
Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer position is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our products/services through continuous improvement initiatives and effective quality control measures. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards, conducting inspections, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements. This is a fulltime, in-person, on site role.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
· Quality Standards: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control standards, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies such as ISO 9001:2015.
· Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements to ensure consistent product quality.
· Testing and Inspection: Develop, implement, and conduct thorough testing and inspection of products, materials, and processes to identify defects and deviations from quality standards.
· Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and analyze the root causes of quality issues, working closely with relevant departments to implement corrective and preventive actions.
· Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, both domestically and internationally, to address quality concerns and foster a culture of quality throughout the organization.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality tests, inspections, and corrective actions, ensuring documentation compliance.
· Continuous Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
· Training: Provide training and guidance to production and other relevant teams on quality control procedures and best practices.
· Manage the preparation, implementation and post-implementation monitoring of corrective and preventative action activities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing or production environment.
· Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control methodologies and tools such as CAPA, 5 Why Analysis, Cause and Effect diagrams, 8D, etc.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
· Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
· Up to 20% of international and domestic travel required per year.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering or 4 or more years of related experience.
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes required.
· Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Methodology tools preferred
· Experience with best practices and 5S a plus
· Excellent organizational skills
· Willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment.
· Experienced in Microsoft Office applications.
