Job Summary: The Manager-Custodial/Housekeeping organizes and directs all activities of the housekeeping department with the goal to maintain all campus buildings in a clean, safe, sanitary, and pleasant condition for students, faculty, staff, and visitors of the University. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree required. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum four years of experience preferred. Degree in Institutional Management preferred. College credits in chemistry, microbiology, and special Housekeeping Management courses preferred. Minimum seven year’s experience in Institutional Housekeeping required.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of cleaning tools and supplies required. Must be able to use a computer and all software necessary to the position such as Microsoft Office and Outlook. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide high standards of professionalism, setting an example of leadership and motivation to employees. Ability to train staff in the use of Housekeeping equipment. Must be able to relate well to different types of people and convey instructions clearly. Must be familiar with all duties of the Housekeepers and Supervisors. Must be able to think independently to solve problems, work under minimal supervision, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to see, hear, and speak well enough to perform job duties and communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
Licensures and Certifications: Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
