We are currently looking for a Category Manager (Indirect Services) to join our utility client's team. This position is based out of Louisville. While most days are remote, occasional trips to the office would be required.
Job description
Responsible for procuring indirect services (i.e. non-material purchases) on a best-evaluated total cost of ownership basis. This position determines contract models and strategies, administers contracts, issues purchase orders, conducts negotiations, performs market/price/financial analysis, develops supplier relationships, tracks and manages supplier performance.
- Develop negotiation strategies and company positions on complex (multi-million dollar) contracts.
- Perform market and financial analyses to determine business risk associated with a supplier or contract.
- Manage the supply chain process from specification/definition of need through contract administration. Evaluate sources of supply and develop optimal pricing methodology, warranty, and product/service performance requirements.
- Identify new sources of supply and potentially acceptable new products/technologies.
- Establish/maintain professional relationships with suppliers/partners based on the highest ethical business practices.
- Support complex capital projects (such as facility upgrades) by working with the project management team to develop the contracting strategy, project plan, identify required resources, acquire necessary equipment and services, and manage contract performance.
- Be the supply chain expert for assigned category(s), and know the market drivers, supplier base, emerging technologies, regulatory factors, category spend by supplier, etc.. Exhibit ownership of the entire category/ internal client group from cradle to grave.
- Be confident and comfortable with awarding contracts up to $4,000,000 on any individual procurement before requiring additional management review.
- Act as a primary liaison to suppliers within assigned category(s).
- Provide requested support for storm response during major outages.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field or 8 years related experience.
- Understanding of Supply Chain and market knowledge of products, equipment, and services.
- Working knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (C.P.S.M).
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and databases.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience using a cloud based ERP system such as Infor, Oracle, SAP, Zycus, etc.

Pay: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour
