Previous experience working in a food/beverage or nutraceutical production/manufacturing lab environment is required.
QA Supervisor
Various Shift(s)
Must be available to work occasional weekends.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains QA objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
- Manages existing QA inspection programs and procedures.
- Communicates and enforces QA philosophy, criteria and procedures to key personnel inside and outside the organization.
- Coordinates QA objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant management to maximize product consistency and minimize costs.
- Ensures inspection activity is conducted comprehensively throughout the production cycle. 6. Supervises QA Technicians engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products, and to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to throughout every step of the production process.
- Manages quality assurance/control training programs to key personnel. 8. Manages Food Safety/HACCP/SQF, SOP, SSOP, and cGMP standards.
- Investigates and responds to customer complaints regarding quality.
Qualifications Include:
· Education: HS Diploma/GED required. Bachelor degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field is preferred.
· Experience: 2+ years lab experience in food, beverage, or nutraceutical experience required.
· Language/Communications: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general procedure manuals. Have the ability to read professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. It is helpful to be able to understand and interpret scientific literature.
· Language/Speech: English is the primary language. Bilingual ability (Spanish) is a plus.
· Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw some conclusions that are reasonable within the person’s ability.
· Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software (Microsoft Word); Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel);Manufacturing software (ERP); and general email writing and online research skills.
· Science skills: The person should have a good understanding of basic science – biology, chemistry, microbiology, earth science, physics, or engineering.
· Mathematical Skills: The person should be able to work simple mathematical problems and to work with fractions, decimals, and Standard and Metric systems.
· Must be able to work in a physical environment (walking, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, up/down stairs) for long periods of time; able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Frequently exposed to wet, cold, hot or humid conditions/temperatures associated with a manufacturing environment, moving mechanical parts, forklifts, and citrus fumes.
