Position Purpose of Specialty Appraiser/DRP Coordinator
- Responsible for inspecting and writing auto damage repair estimates. Assists with virtual estimating processes. Reinspects vehicles at various state of repair to ensure quality work and accurate estimates written by Direct Repair Facilities. Works with our Direct Repair Shop affiliates to ensure quality standards and customer service are achieved. Responsible for selecting and maintaining auto repair shops approved as a Direct Repair facility. Responds to customer complaints involving a Direct Repair Shop. Projects the Company’s professional image.
- As an exempt employee, this position is paid to get the job done, which may mean additional hours will need to be worked, depending on the circumstances.
- The employee customarily and regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion.
Essential Job Functions and basic duties:
- Inspect and write auto repair estimates using computerized estimating programs. Inspection to include photographing and measuring damages. Determine damages that are related to the loss event.
- Determine total loss values.
- Audit Direct Repair and Customer Choice shop invoices and supporting documentation. Determine appropriate payment. Work as a liaison between the file handler and body shop.
- Payment authorization for repairs and/or total loss replacement value in accordance with applicable policy coverage and prevailing law.
- Coordinate and conduct training for Direct Repair and Customer Choice Shop affiliates in customer service, processing and quality expectation.
- On-site inspection and audits at Direct Repair Shop affiliates.
- Supervise affiliate shops and work with shops to improve customer service.
- Make recommendations to management to add or delete shops as needed.
- Maintain statistical reports from Direct Repair and Customer Choice Shop affiliates to ensure company compliance and best practices.
- Understanding of and compliance with Utah Unfair Claims Practices Act.
- Conduct staff training on auto damage estimating and workflow processes
Physical Activities and Requirements of this position:
May include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and reaching.
Physical Strength: Medium Work; Exerting up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or 10 lbs. constantly.
Working Conditions:
Worker is subject to varying inside and/or outside temperatures, which may include extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees).
Work is performed both inside and outside, subject to weather.
Some local travel.
Qualifications:
Education: College degree or equivalent training
Required Knowledge: Working knowledge of auto estimating
Working knowledge of auto body repair
Knowledge of computer software for Auto Appraisals
Experience Required: 1-2 years prior claim handling or customer oriented experience.
3-5 years prior auto estimating or auto repair experience.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication and public relations skills
Well organized and attentive to detail
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to resolve conflict amicably
Formulate and present training
Clean driving record
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
