What You'll Do
Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is looking for Hardware Design Engineer at all levels. Candidate will be responsible for HW IP development on next generation Modem CPU subsystem for wireless systems (5G and beyond) including its architecture/design, and verification/implementation of CPU for the application of latest 3GPP standards such as New Radio (5G), LTE, and V2X. Samsung modem chipsets for 2G/3G/4G/5G have been commercialized in millions of smart devices including Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets including the advanced 5G mmWave solutions.
Location: Hybrid, working onsite at our San Diego, CA office 3 days a week, with the flexibility to work remotely the remainder of your time.

- Microarchitecture definition, RTL design and validate the CPU and subsystem for modem chipsets which meet upcoming requirements of 5G and beyond use cases.
- Implement in RTL and coordinate execution with the verification team to ensure that the design is completed.
- Strive for the best performance, size and power consumption tradeoff within SOC subsystem.
- Deliver a synthesis/timing clean design while working with the physical design team ensuring a physically implementable design.
- Support to debug pre/post silicon issues and evaluation.
- Work closely with firmware and application software engineers to develop an implementation that meets system requirements.
What You Bring
- Bachelors with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, or Masters with 8+ years or PhD with 5+ years in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Experience in CPU microarchitecture definition and RTL design of embedded system and advanced wireless systems.
- Experience on FW development to validate embedded CPU platform.
- Experience on debug complex pre/post silicon issues.
- Understanding of signal processing systems and associated implementation technique is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
