JOB PURPOSE
The Mechanic Apprentice will perform repair work and maintenance on fleet vehicles. This includes diagnostic work, troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and emergency repairs to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely, as delegated by the Shop Mechanic.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, and inspections on vehicles and related equipment.
· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on diesel engines and related systems.
· Replace and repair worn-out parts including engines, transmissions, brakes, fuel systems, and other mechanical components.
· Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on each vehicle and piece of equipment.
· Document parts used, repairs conducted, and maintenance schedules.
· Assist in managing parts inventory, ensuring necessary parts are in stock and properly organized.
· Order new parts and materials as needed, working within the budget.
· Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during all work activities.
· Ensure all vehicles and equipment meet regulatory and safety standards.
· Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
· Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles and equipment to detect faults or malfunctions.
· Maintain facility grounds and buildings, including changing air filters, tracking water meter readings, administering onsite fuel pump, and general clean-up of the facility and grounds.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
· High school degree, GED, or equivalent
· Mechanic skills
· Valid driver’s license
· Must meet company driver’s safety standards and pass a motor vehicle report background check
· Must pass a criminal background check
· Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demand consists of prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting up to 80 pounds regularly throughout the workday. Lifting arms above the head frequently while working is also required.

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
Experience:
- Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Preferred)
- Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
