The Palmetto Dunes Property Owners Association is looking for an entry-level Maintenance Technician to join our team.
With a mission to enhance the quality of life, strive to protect the natural environment, and improve the resources of our community for all those who live, invest, work and play here, PDPOA will be regarded as the best and most sought after residential resort community on the east coast. It is governed by a homeowner Board of Directors which oversees the community through onsite management led by the Chief Executive Officer.
The PDPOA assets which need to be maintained and/or enhanced include:

The candidate for this position will report directly to the Facilities Manager.
Essential Functions
-
Responsible for the appearance of the community and the proper functioning of the systems and equipment that are critical to the operation and look of Palmetto Dunes.

Supports the maintenance of the lagoon system.

Supports the maintenance and repairs all PDPOA facilities, which includes gate houses, and admin/security offices.

Supports the maintenance of all signs within the community.

Assists in the maintenance of roadways and walkways, including the repair and installation of these surfaces.

Removes dead animals and coordinates outside contractors to remove nuisance animals. This may include animals that have diseases or some type of injury.

Supporting homeowners’ needs, such as new mailboxes, and being able to interface with and support the homeowners in a polite and supportive way is critical to this position.

Assists in the repair and maintenance of all PDPOA vehicles.
Competencies
-
Specialization in grounds maintenance, specifically landscaping, irrigation, and turf maintenance is required.

Woodworking and metalworking skills are preferred.

Knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft’s Office suite, coupled along with basic business practices.
Education and Experience
The Maintenance Technician should have, at a minimum, a high school diploma, and a minimum of two years experience in a maintenance position.
Knowledge of construction and other building industry practices is important.
Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation, a drug and alcohol test, and be able to speak English articulately. Fluency in Spanish is also highly preferred.
Must have a valid South Carolina driver’s license and not have any major violations within the last 5 years.

The duties of this job require a great deal of physical activity and the position requires the employee to be able to perform a variety of difficult manual labor processes. Some of these processes include mowing, landscaping, painting, carpentry, stone work, tree-trimming/removal, moving of heavy equipment and automobile repair.

The duties of this job occasionally will require delicate work as well, such as painting, woodworking and interior repair of carpets, walls and furniture.

The employee might be required to work up to and after storm or natural disaster events depending on need, approval of authorities, and ability to make it into work. Senior management and outside law enforcement agencies will determine the appropriate response and access to the property.

Hiring Range: $18.00/hour to $20.00/hour
