About this Position:
Procurement Specialists are responsible for the Requisition through Supplier Payment process. Procurement Specialists manage the review of purchase requisitions within all categories and spend parameters, ensuring accurate PO issuance and management in compliance with the Indirect Procurement Governance Policy which represents and protects Honda’s commercial obligations to its suppliers. Procurement Specialists support the PO confirmation & blocked payment resolution processing, GR/IR issue resolution, & Supplier Performance activity through direct engagement and reporting to the Indirect Strategic Sourcing team when required. Additionally, these team members will lead department/division project activity which roll-up to Business Unit level Business Plan theme activity.
Responsibilities include:
- Create and execute RFQ (Request for Quote), work w/customer to understand/clarify purchase need, ensuring purchase order accuracy supporting production and/or business requirements. Review & approve purchase requisitions within all categories and spend parameters, ensuring Honda Company Indirect Procurement Governance Policy requirements are met. Confirm applicable commercial details between the requisition and supplier quote/contract are included upon issuing the Purchase Order to supplier based on Honda’s standard operating procedure (SOP) while meeting all defined KPI’s (Key Performance Indicator’s).
- Support business owner and Accounts Payable in proper/timely financial close of PO’s including goods receipts (GR), invoice receipt (IR), timely payments to suppliers and closing the PO when needed per business requirements.
- Ensure receipt and confirmation, by the supplier, of all Purchase Orders issued which are greater than $100K and including a Level 2 contract within the identified timeframe, as required by NAIP policy. Facilitate the investigation and resolution of any issues or concerns identified that may delay the confirmation step ensuring zero negative impact to our customer.
- Support Exception PO (EPO) process. Work w/internal customer & supplier to minimize any potential negative impact to Honda’s production and/or project schedule.
- Lead Business Process Improvement / Project Theme activity
- Support training of Operational Buyer business acumen.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable subject (e.g., Business, Logistics, etc.) or equivalent related experience
Minimum Experience:
- 1-4 years of related experience based on education (preferable either in a Purchasing or Finance related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable)
Other job-specific skills:
- Knowledge of: Procurement & Business Operations; Conceptual understanding of & ability to learn procurement/ordering processing systems
- Skilled in: Managing details; Negotiation, Microsoft Office applications (such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc…)
- Ability to: understand customer needs and embed the needs into all activities; gain trust and foster accountability; Build Consensus with internal and external customer; think strategically and communicate vision to others; Solve Problems and Make Decisions that align with business objectives; be Self Motivated; lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously; to learn, understand and teach the order to pay process to team members and customers
- Good customer service, communication (both written & oral), negotiation and interpersonal skills
Additional Position Factors:
- This is a multi plant / business unit role with an office and manufacturing support focus. It will require some traveling to Manufacturing Plants, Suppliers, Training, etc…across North America. The management team encourages "Go to the spot", or Genba mindset.
