Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream is looking for a part-time Ice Cream Pastry Cook to join our team. Experience in a NYC food establishment is a plus. Holding a NYC Food Handlers Certificate is also a plus.
Must be able to work mornings. Must be clean, organized, and a team player. Production will include pies, cakes, and variety of other pastries. We are looking for an immediate hire for this position.
General responsibilities include:
- Baking, building, and decorating cakes according to the recipes, portioning, cooking, and standards of MFIC.
- Ensure consistency in all food products we produce.
- Prioritize daily production schedule with kitchen team.
- Manage and maintain all perishable and nonperishable ingredients through FIFO.
- Collaborate when appropriate with the Chef with new menu items.
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
- Assure all necessary items are in the restaurant at the beginning of the shift.
- Communicate in a timely manner any needs and discrepancies for all ingredients to ensure quality standards established by the Chef.
- A qualifying certificate in food protection issued by New York City DOHMH is strongly preferred.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 year of pastry cook, kitchen prep, and or cooking experience.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to positively impact others.
Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
Able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to work in a standing position (for up to 12 hours).
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week
