Surplus Sales Associate
About The Role
The Computer Technician-Surplus role will play a pivotal role in our organization performing a multifaceted position ensuring the secure destruction and sanitization of client information across all data containing devices, testing and refurbishing computers, and prepping inventory items for listing on e-commerce platforms. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, attention to detail, and organizational skills to ensure the efficient processing of IT hardware, including testing, photographing, data sanitization, and inventory management.
Key Role Responsibilities

Perform secure data sanitization procedures, including hard drive wiping and destruction, to ensure compliance with privacy regulations and client security standards.

Utilize appropriate tools and techniques for sanitizing various data-containing devices, such as computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

Conduct comprehensive testing and evaluation of donated computers and IT hardware to assess functionality and condition.

Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to determine repair or refurbishment needs.

Keep accurate data sanitization records and reporting to clients, maintaining transparency and accountability in the sanitization process.

Organize and prepare tested inventory items to be listed across e-commerce platforms, ensuring accurate documentation and categorization.

Ensure items are properly stored and labeled with respect to company, NAID, and R2 standards, maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Collaborate with team members to optimize inventory presentation and streamline listing processes for maximum visibility and impact.

Conduct research on the resale value of electronics to inform pricing strategies and maximize profitability on e-commerce platforms.

Capture high-quality photographs of surplus items for listing on e-commerce platforms, ensuring accurate representation and visual appeal.

Assist in creating draft listings and optimizing product descriptions to maximize sales potential.

Collaborate with warehouse staff to sort, stack, and prepare inventory items for storage, shipment, or resale.

Organize, sort, and clean warehouse inventory to facilitate efficient processing and storage of surplus items.

Work closely with managers to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in surplus inventory management and data sanitization procedures.

Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to streamline operations and enhance productivity.

Maintain clean and organized work area

Requirements:
Desired Skills/Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

1+ e-Commerce experience preferred

Basic understanding of consumer and/or enterprise-level IT hardware a plus

Excellent computer/internet experience in working in Windows PC environment a must

Great verbal and written communication skills

Ability to photograph and upload accurate photos of items while maintaining a high aesthetic quality
