Position Overview:
As a Farmer you are responsible for managing and operation a farm to produce crops and any other agriculture related products.
Responsibilities:
- Planting, cultivating and harvesting crops based on seasonality
- Monitoring crop health and applying fertilizers, pesticides and other treatments as needed
- Irrigating fields and managing water resources efficiently
- Uses powered industrial equipment (tractors, combines, plows and irrigation systems etc.) in a safe manner, employing proper lifting techniques when performing job tasks, and adhering to the safety rules at all times
- Performing routine maintenance and repairs to keep equipment in good working conditions
- Assessing soil quality and implementing strategies to improve fertility of soil and prevent erosion
- Rotating crops and managing field layouts to optimize yields and minimize environmental impacts
- Implementing sustainable farming practices to conserve natura resources and protecting the environment
- Budgeting and financial planning to ensure profitability and sustainability of the farm
- Monitoring market trends and making decisions about crops or livestock to produce based on demand and economic factors
- Keping detailed records of expenses, income and production metrics for financial analysis and reporting
- Adhering to local, state and federal regulations regarding agriculture, including environmental regulations, food safety standards and labor laws
- Obtaining necessary permits and licenses for operation the farm and complying with inspection requirements
- Marketing farm products to buyers such as wholesalers, retailers, farmers markets and consumers
- Building relationships with customers and maintaining a positive reputation for the farms products
- Identifying and addressing challenges such as pests, diseases, weather related issues and market fluctuations
- Calculating figures, amounts, proportions, percentages and volume in relation to the application of fertilizer, chemicals, and water
- Applying fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides
- Implementing strategies to mitigate risks and adapt to changing conditions
- Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

· As needed based on the farming season
Experience:
· Preferred: One (1) year as a farmer, farm manager or relative experience
· Preferred: Farm equipment operation – tractors, combines, plows, irrigation systems etc.
Skills:
- Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies to all associates; driving for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
- Physical abilities: May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
- Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
- Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Working in a team based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders timely and with the highest quality
- Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
