Position Purpose: The trailer/dump truck driver’s duties are to securely transport material loads from one place to another, verify material weight and quantity’s, cooperating with customers, superintendents and all other employees on a jobsite, keeping his/her vehicle clean and in good safe working condition and delivering materials in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Consider safety foremost while driving by adhering to Vollers safety policies, all federal motor carrier safety regulations in compliance with DOT and following OSHA guidelines while on company jobsites.
- Keep daily and periodic documentation, reports, and credentials up to date. This includes but is not limited to: VIRs (pre & post trip inspections), daily mileage trip sheet (IFTA), emissions testing docs and federal inspection docs.
- Operate a class A vehicle with a manual transmission endorsement, 100yd walking floor trailer, 70yd tub trailer, 60yd dump trailer, tri-axle dump truck, tandem-axle rollback truck, single axle mason dump, and heavy equipment.
- Heavy equipment machine operator in the recycling center when no trucking duties are taking place.
- Notify and schedule with the Heavy Equipment Shop Manager for any mechanical issues or needed repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe vehicle to represent the company.
- Detect and eliminate safety hazards during travel.
- Complete miscellaneous projects or tasks as requested by the Recycling Operations Foreman or Trucking Coordinator.
- Attend quarterly driver’s safety meetings and complete any additional training requirements.
- Operate various trucks and heavy equipment to snow plow in winter months.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of heavy equipment operation including wheel loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and rubber tire backhoes.
- Safe practices of loading, unloading, and transporting equipment and materials.
- Great customer service skills to meet and exceed expectations to both internal and external customers, acts in a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner.
- Be self-motivated and organized with great time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities.
Certifications:
- Valid CDL class A driver’s license without any violations and manual transmission endorsement.
- DOT medical certificate.
