Who are we looking for?
This full-time, year-round role is the “swiss army-knife” of positions here at Wilson Farm. Working alongside the Produce Production Manager (responsible for general operations and team management), the Assistant Manager - Produce Production, Packing and Fruit/Gift Baskets will use their proven experience, attention to detail, and team skills to support this department and ensure that our products remain the freshest available. In addition to the Produce Production Manager, the employee will be working directly with the Store Manager, as well as the Owner.
This is a full-time (5-6 days/week - 50 hours) position including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Holiday periods may require more hours and flexibility in schedule to meet business needs in peak periods. This position pays $25.00/hr.
Primary Responsibilities for an Assistant Manager – Produce Production, Packing, and Fruit/Gift baskets:
Produce Production:
- Assist Department Manager to oversee daily produce inventory and production packing for retail sale – ensuring production levels are met.
- Quality control of produce at all times – ensuring freshness, pleasing appearance and culling out unsuitable product as needed.
- Participate in daily pricing review – responsible for price setting/changes for products and checking existing product pricing for continuity and accuracy.
- Use, update and upkeep of production scales – using scales as necessary, inputting product information/pricing as needed, general updating and upkeep of scales.
- Work with Front End staff to make price corrections/adjustments and create appropriate signage to reflect pricing changes.
- Hands-on package and stock – checking, filling and rotating displays throughout the day, and moving displays as necessary.
- Participate in daily inventory review to share produce inventory levels and know what produce needs to be purchased at the produce market the next day.
- General maintenance of Production Room – beginning of day setup and end of day cleanup by team.
Gift BAsket Program Point Person:
- Fruit/Gift Basket Sales
- Head sales person for individual and corporate orders.
- Calling previous customers/finding and communicating with new customers and maintaining and developing good customer relationships.
- Working with Owner and buyers to produce annual catalog of gift basket offerings.
- Fruit/Gift Basket Customer Orders
- Taking all custom fruit/gift basket orders.
- Reviewing daily all fruit/gift basket orders to be built/delivered/picked up.
- Ensuring all orders are accurately fulfilled by building the baskets/coordinating with other basket builders.
- Working with buyers in various departments to ensure supplies/products are available and on-hand to build gift baskets.
- Fruit/Gift Basket Development
- Creating new basket ideas.
- Research/investigate other online or retailers’ gift basket offerings to have an idea of quality, competitive products and prices.
- Fruit/Gift Basket Displays
- Creating and merchandising displays of standard Fruit/Gift Baskets for immediate in-store purchase.
- Assuring quality in all Fruit/Gift Baskets on display at all times.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide coverage for Department Manager in their absence (must know everything Manager does/everything about Manager’s role in order to run the Department during the Department Manager’s days off, vacations, etc.).
- Assist customers by phone or in-person to locate product for purchase, answer questions and educate customer.
- Provide top-tier customer service and seek to understand and meet all customer needs.
- Create/update informative and eye-catching general signage for ALL departments as needed - coordinate with Marketing Department.
- Maintain good vendor relationships where applicable.
- Any additional tasks/projects as assigned by department Manager/Owners.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 40+lb
- Standing, reaching, bending for extended periods of time
- Moving about the retail sales floor as needed
