Verus Research is searching for a Senior Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer to perform research and development, conception, and implementation of algorithms into software while ensuring processing constraints and security requirements are satisfied. The work will primarily be geared towards implementing advanced programming in a DevOps environment. This engineer will support the creation of software for radiation testing and hardening models as well as design, develop, implement, and optimize algorithms for real-time applications in the growing portfolio of Applied Nuclear Research.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer position will possess a strong mix of leadership and research and critical thinking skills, demonstrate a deep domain understanding of computer science, and be able to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. The candidate will often work independently to identify and mitigate technical risks in algorithmic design and implementation in hardware architectures, identify future opportunities for sustained growth, lead whitepaper development, and mentor younger team members in technical disciplines and complex engineering principles vital to the successful execution of program objectives.This posting is for work in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Success in this exciting role will stem from:
- US Citizen
- Experience working with GPUs, including using CMake, CUDA, and GPU optimization
- An advanced degree in computer science, or a bachelor’s degree in computer science with additional years of experience in lieu of advanced degree
- 5-8 years of experience developing software applications in C, C++, and Python
- Background/experience in linear algebra, statistics, and hardware interfaces
- Experience working with interface control documents (ICDs) or application programming interfaces (APIs)
- Knowledge of software life cycle development and best practices, including unit test design and implementation and requirements design and verification
- Background in physics, image processing, and/or signal processing
