Summary
The District Manager - Illinois reports to the National Director of Retail and is responsible for profitability of multiple dispensaries and their teams within the state. The District Manager will be responsible for leading a team of retail managers throughout the state promoting a forward-thinking approach to achieving operational and service excellence. This person will strive to consistently meet (or exceed) financial and operational expectations with a goal to ultimately drive sales and customer or patient engagement. The District Manager will oversee 3 dispensaries (with more expansion anticipated), ensuring the region achieves or exceeds all key metrics and goals. This role will serve as the link between the Justice Cannabis Co. brand vision of providing access to consistent high-quality cannabis and cannabis knowledge and the operations of the store. Responsibilities of this role include:
Leadership and Talent Management

Build a high-performing dispensary management team by pairing critical talent selection with nuanced region and individual store needs

Assess management performance, skill gaps, and career aspirations to develop a leadership pipeline that provides for projected new store openings and revenue growth

Develop, coach, and inspire employees to achieve individual and team goals through regular feedback inclusive of recurring performance discussions and career development planning

Sustain coaching, training and development initiatives specific to succession planning needs

Uphold a culture of accountability, people-centeredness and forward-thinking in the performance management of dispensary managers
-
Respond to all manager’s questions, concerns or suggestions and communicate resource needs to the Regional Director; provide timelines for resolution and/or implementation

Regularly assess store staffing and efficiency for improvement opportunities and workforce planning

Partner with Human Resources to investigate and resolve employee relations and employee engagement concerns in a timely manner

Develop organization plans in support of short-term strategy to monitor and drive the achievement of company and individual performance through KPI’s and other metrics

Regular travel within the state to visit all assigned dispensaries as well as periodic travel to other states for business meetings and events
Business Operations

Participate in new store opening project initiatives including staffing, construction, customer experience and inventory

Lead dispensary managers in cohesive forecasting, scheduling, outstanding customer service and execution of programs and initiatives

Analyze business metrics to create, implement and communicate action plans that promote growth and continuous improvement of dispensary operations

Achieve sales objectives by creating and monitoring performance of sales and inventory plans, influencing marketing materials, maintaining online platforms and establishing inventory controls

Partner with Regional Buyer to select product line enhancements (cultivators/vendors/products) given regional trends and customer demographics; ensure dispensary management is prepared and resourced to launch enhancements

Gather data and insights from individual dispensaries to contribute to strategic plans for the region that address business and competitor risk

Manage any inspection or audit escalations
Communications

Team Collaboration: Establish and nurture key business partner relationships across Human Resources, Outreach, Compliance, Security, Employees Health & Safety, Marketing, Construction and IT

Provide regular updates, feedback, and solutions to corporate retail leadership across all areas of dispensary operations

Collaborate with Compliance and Operations Management to ensure quality and compliance to policies, procedures, and regulations
Patient or Customer Experience

Qualifications
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in medical cannabis industry is desirable, but not required.

7-9 years of Retail Management Experience, preferably in a high-growth or fast-paced environment with multiple site responsibilities

Minimum 5 years of retail management experience

Minimum 2 years of multi-unit management experience

Experience in a dynamic role that combines problem solving, teamwork, technical skills, and customer service

Proven success building a high-performance team

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for performance management, coaching, supervision, fostering teamwork, training and development of six or more employees.

Must be capable of lifting 25 pounds to stock product boxes. Position requires frequent reaching into cabinets and displays to show and review product. Ability to maintain a stationary sitting or standing position for up to eight hours a day based on business needs and sales volume; and ability to bend and retrieve products from lower shelves. This role also enters information into sales and tracking systems requiring hand dexterity and the ability visually verify correct product information.
