Pre-School Classified Lead Instructor
JOB TITLE: PRE-SCHOOL LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of the Pre-School Lead Instructor is to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for a multi-aged preschool group, providing learning experiences appropriate to the individual developmental needs of the Pre-School children while providing a rich and varied learning environment and curriculum.
Directly Responsible To: UPK Program Coordinator
Essential Functions:
- Develops lesson plans and uses available instructional materials in order to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the pupils.
- Provides a safe, stable and positive environment conducive to the development of the children's concept of self and positive attitudes toward learning.
- Creates a functional and attractive environment for learning.
- Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities
provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Accurately completes and submits in a timely manner forms, records, and reports required for the efficient/effective operation of the program.
- Coordinates and directs the work of instructional assistants, paraprofessionals, parents and other volunteers.
- Plans and supervises developmentally appropriate activity programs and field trips.
- Assesses each child's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual level and designs a plan of instruction based on identified developmental needs.
- Develops classroom management strategies that provide for on-going positive reinforcement of appropriate behavior, as well as consistent rules and non-punitive consequences, for unacceptable behavior.
- Regularly demonstrates basic knowledge regarding the health and safety ofstudents, including the utilization of appropriate First Aid procedures.
- Plans and supervises a relaxing, pleasant mealtime setting with children, providing a stimulus for comfortable conversation, and a model for appropriate table manners.
- Makes home visits as appropriate. (One or more visits per month, per family as needed.)
- Works cooperatively with principals and other support personnel in planning and implementing the educational program.
- Exercises supervision and care over all furniture, books, supplies, and equipment entrusted to his/her care.
- Participates in staff meetings and on-going program evaluation-based state requirements.
- Plans and provides parent education information/activities in the classroom or the home, as appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding information concerning children, parents, and families.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB TITLE: Pre-School Lead Instructor:
Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Proficiency in English, Bilingual Spanish (preferred)
- CPR/First Aid Certification
Must meet one of the following options required under California Community Care Licensing
Option 1:
A degree in child development, 3 units in administration with supervision, and 2 years teaching experience
Option 2:
Bachelor's degree in child development, 3 units in Administration with
Supervision and 1 year teaching experience
Option 3:
Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit

Salary Range:
Classified Salary Schedule Range 32
Hours 8 Monday-Friday
12 months 245 days
