General Summary:
Administers personal hygienic and therapeutic measures for patients as directed. Makes a skilled nursing assessment each visit as ordered. Observes, records, and reports to RN supervisor on the general physical and mental conditions of the patient. Administers prescribed medications and treatments as permitted by State and by Local regulations. Assist the physician and/or registered professional nurse in performing specialized procedures. Assists the patient with activities of daily living and encourages appropriate self-care. Cooperates with all staff members in carrying out overall objectives of the agency. Must uphold and respect the rights of the patient. Must use tact and judgment in dealing with patients. May administer enemas, douches, perennial care and other treatments. Delivers skilled nursing care in strict conformance with the physician plan of care under the direction of an RN. Position can be called upon to perform other duties as assigned.
Job Skills and Abilities:
Must possess comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory, technique, and practice plus ability to effectively supervise personnel. Practice in regulation of the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners. Ability to learn, manage, and ensure compliance of health programs. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Requires a valid Texas driver’s license.
Qualifications:
A person who has completed a practical (vocational) nursing program, is licensed in the state where practicing, and who furnished services under the supervision of a qualified registered nurse.
